The plants which are used for medicinal purposes known as medicinal plants. The Discovery of medicines began through man’s quest for drugs in nature. As plants existed on earth from the very beginning of human evolution man used them for various purposes from the beginning.

The use of plants in alleviating human suffering is as old as human civilization on earth. The uses of medicinal plants have passed down from ancestors to predecessors. The most common use of medicinal plants is still in treating common cold, cough, common fever, sinus infection and skin infections, etc. People still follow these remedies in conditions that are not generally regarded as life-threatening. These are the most traditional and widely used sources of treatment of any diseases. The benefits of the most widely used medicinal plants in Bangladesh are as follows-

1. Amla

(Phyllanthus emblica)
